What's the difference between Cloud Servers and Cloud Servers with a Managed Service Level?

Cloud Servers with a Managed Service Level allows you to manage your business whilst we manage your cloud.  It offers an additional level of support on our Cloud Servers, which includes monitoring, operating system and application infrastructure layer support.

To help you decide which solution is right for you, see if you able to confidently answer the following statements. If yes, then Cloud servers should be fine for you, but if you’re unsure then probably our managed service is a better choice.

  • I feel comfortable working with virtual hosts (host header based sites)
  • I know why I would want to lower my DNS record's TTL
  • I know the difference between an A record and a CNAME
  • I know how to check if a service available to external clients (general public)
  • I know the difference between port 80 and port 443 services

The chart below details the difference between traditional Cloud Servers and Cloud Servers with a Managed Service Level.  It will depend on your business requirements which solution works best for your business.

Managed Cloud Hosting | Rackspace Cloud

In a nutshell the real differentiator between Cloud Servers and Cloud Servers with a Managed Service Level is the 24/7/365 support for companies that don't have that kind of in-house expertise, coupled with the need to scale up or down to meet fluctuations in traffic and demand.

"I love that you're combining the Managed Service Level that I've had on the dedicated side for all these years with the Cloud systems that allow us to scale and adapt rapidly. To me, that's the greatest solution."
